Submission guidelines.
In
photojournalism, photographers are responsible for the truthfulness and
objectivity of our photographs. To maintain credibility, photographs may not be
manipulated in any way that alters the reality of the image. Retouching
photographs beyond conventional techniques is prohibited.
You
may dodge/burn, sharpen, increase/decrease contrast and color balance your
photograph. Spotting may be done ONLY to eliminate technical flaws (similar to
spotting in the darkroom). You may not alter the image in any other way. This
applies to all photo categories except photo illustration.
Submit
named, sized images NOT IN FOLDERS onto the server. Failure to size or name
correctly will result in a lower grade for assignment.
Finished images – file
size, saving and naming guidelines.
Longest image dimension may not exceed 2400 pixels
(1500 minimum).
Save images as flattened Photoshop files (no
layers please).
Name image:
Yourname.Category.psd
For
more than one image per category add a number.
For example I would name
my first portrait
Sue.feature.psd
I would name my second
portrait
Sue.feature2.psd
Finished images – caption
guidelines.
To
add captions use Photoshop to increase the canvas size at the bottom of the
photograph, and then add type. (Additional canvas space should be white and
type should be black, making sure to use a legible font.)
I strongly encourage you
to save a copy of your layered file for your own use.
Do not turn in the layered
file.
If you are not familiar
with Photoshop or have questions
about submitting images please ask me before deadline.
